《Animal Crossing: New Horizons》自今年 3月18日的一周年纪念以来，就没有什么非常大型的更新了。最近一次的小型更新，也是在 4月月末的时候以国际博物馆日作以及婚礼季节作为主题来推出一些物品。而就在时隔将近3个月以后，任天堂在官方推特上宣布游戏将会在 7月29日推出免费夏季更新。

烟花活动更新
这一次的免费夏季更新，是《Animal Crossing: New Horizons》的 1.11版本更新。不过这个更新的重点，都比较专注在游戏的维护、并更新一些季节性的活动以及道具物品。首先，就是随着夏季更新而重新归来的烟花展览活动。玩家能够在游戏里的「Resident Services Plaza」里，观赏在夏季夜空绽放的烟花。
而在 2021年的夏季活动里，游戏将会加入全新的「Redd’s Raffle」道具，包括棉花糖、冰棒以及珍珠奶茶之类的。
「Nook Shopping Events」
除了烟花活动以外，「Nook」的商店里也会加入全新的道具商品，例如用黄瓜做成的马以及茄子做成的牛，这些都是用来庆祝日本孟兰盆节的道具。此外，还会在九月开放让玩家购买有关中秋节节庆的物品。
未来更新
虽然这一次的夏季更新内容似乎有点少，但任天堂表示将会在之后陆续为《Animal Crossing: New Horizons》添加新的免费更新，他们也将会在之后公布更多有关这些更新的内容。
